Hello and Welcome!
We would like to welcome old and new members to the Carousel Riding Club.
We are a thriving and friendly club that welcomes new members at any time and we encourage all age groups at all levels. We currently have nearly 100 members.
Carousel Riding Club has been running as a British Riding Clubs Affiliated Club since 1965 and is one of the largest riding clubs in the county. Being affiliated means we get advice and support from the BRC that has links with the British Horse Society. We aim to encourage all riders in our area to improve their riding and enjoy themselves at the same time.
As a BRC Affiliated Club, members can represent their club at Area and National level in all disciplines. If you want to have a go, please put your name forward.
Every year we start the season with an Open Hunter Trial at Taverham which is always a good place to ride whatever the weather. The facilities are brilliant with a wide variety of jumps for everyone.
We run several Member/Open Shows throughout the summer at Blackwater Farm, Gt Witchingham, owned by Maggie and David Sayer. This lovely venue is in a central location with plenty of space for the arenas and parking. .
All of the show jumping classes will be unrestricted to allow members to compete at a level at which they feel happy. These will start at 0.6m for those of us that are not too happy to leave the ground or have a young horse! But, for those who require a challenge, the classes will run up to 1.05m. BS course builders and jusges are booked as much as possible.
As the club has a good reputation we are able to attract quality Showing judges and the classes have been altered to include those suitable for children and novices such as Cross Pole Working Hunter, Pony Club Pony and In Hand.
Our dressage classes are always busy and due to popular demand, we introduced a Medium level dressage test for the more adventurous as well as the running the usual Intro, Preliminary, Novice and Elementary classes. We try to book Listed judges wherever possible.
There is definitely something for everyone at the new improved showground so please come along, join us and have some fun!
We start with an open show in April and In June we will have an Arena Eventing and Working Hunter Show. In August an open Mini XC at which we will be running clear-round cross-country classes over varying heights giving you a chance to come and have a go.
Throughout the season, points are awarded for the club leagues. The winners of these are presented with their awards at the AGM that is held in early November.
Training is also a big part of the club’s activities and our Training Officer will endeavour to organise whatever training the members want.
