Like most famous people it is important to keep your image updated, here is my latest picture. (You have got to admit I do look cool)

Come and see us at Carousel shows and events this year. We look forward to meeting you!

And don’t forget to check back here next month for the latest installment of our adventures. I might even let Ken get a word in.

Love Iddy and Ken

Hello Everybody! It’s Iddy here!
Ken and I had a great time at the Felthorpe Hunter Trial last weekend. We
loved meeting so many of you and getting so much fuss and so many
treats. One little girl even plaited my tail. You may have spotted us having
a go over some of the jumps in the breaks between classes: logs, tyres,
barrels, all sorts. We do like a bit of jumping. Ken was really flying over
them. He is the better jumper of the two of us, but don’t tell him I said
so. We were pleased to be able to make ourselves useful by helping to
catch a loose horse who had carelessly lost his rider somewhere on the
course and by keeping a big horse company when he was feeling anxious
when his friend left him to jump round the course. What would you all do
without us?
We have been keeping ourselves busy with our usual activities. Lots of
walks with our humans and plenty of long reining. We are in training for a
long reining competition at a show especially for Shetland ponies later this
month. We can’t wait! We have also been out showing and brought home
some red rosettes.

Talking of showing, Ken went to the Moggy Hennessy showing clinic at
Burgh Farm Dressage last month. He wanted to pick up some tips from
the best in the showing business. Moggy is not known for her love of
Shetland ponies but by the end of the day he had won her over and she
had to admit that she ‘almost’ liked him.
Now that we are three, we are losing our baby teeth, or caps as they are
known. Did you know that most foals have a set of 24 baby teeth by the
time they reach nine months old? When adult teeth erupt, they dislodge
the caps. Luckily, we aren’t showing any signs of discomfort and most
importantly, we aren’t having any trouble eating.
We decided to get involved with pancake day this year and make our own
pancakes. We had our own little kitchen, frying pans and chefs’ hats.
Don’t worry, our humans made sure all the ingredients were pony
friendly. We had enormous fun but our humans said it was rather chaotic
and messy and that you mix with spoons and don’t just stick your muzzle
in the mixture. The eating was definitely the best part.

It turns out we may have been doing a bit too much eating. The lovely
Eloise from Allen and Page, Carousel’s cross country league sponsor, came

to see us last month. We got weighed and given a body condition score as
well as personalised feed plans. It would seem that we are slightly rotund
so our humans are making sure we watch what we eat at the moment
and do plenty of exercise. I would argue that we are simply cuddly and
very fluffy, but there you go.
Look out for me this weekend at Carousel’s dressage and show jumping
show at Blackwater Farm. You might even catch me in the show jumping
ring popping over a few fences. I’ll be hoping for a clear round. Better be
off and do some jumping practice.

Finally, I must tell you our favourite flower is the Sunflower.

You may have noticed Ken and I are only little, but we are the same as a big horse, just a bit more naughty, and cleverer of course. Will tell you more about the sunflower on another day.
