Carousel Riding Club – Important January 2024

Dear Members

We would like to make you aware of changes to Membership options of Carousel Riding Club and also the new way of joining.*

All existing members will have received an email  in November, from Sport:80 entitled “British Riding Club – Password Setup”, it will ask you to click on a link & set up a password.  Please check your spam box.  You can also access through this link https://britishridingclubs.sport80.com/public/wizard/a/1485

Once you have done this you will be able to manage & update your personal details on your account, all current members are listed with accounts, so please keep an eye out for the email & check your spam folder. Please note that you need to be a paid up affiliated BRC member to represent the club in qualifiers. Sport 80 will charge you an additional £1.50 to process.

However for those who do not wish to represent the club at qualifiers, or to have the benefits of affiliation, we offer an unaffiliated membership through our own website www.carouselridingclub.co.uk to benefit from reduced rate entry fees, subsidised & priority training .

Senior affiliated  £35  (£24 retained by BRC)

Junior affiliated £25  (£24 retained by BRC)

Senior unaffiliated £20 paid directly to Carousel through our website

Junior unaffiliated  £10 ditto

Going forward Affiliated members will join the club directly via the new BRC platform Sport 80.  Unaffiliated members will continue to join through our own website www.carouselridingclub.co.uk.

Future membership with BRC will be a rolling membership, so if for example you join in January it will run 12 months to the end of December, if you join in June it will run 12 months to the end of May etc.

Your affiliated membership number will change & will revert back to your 1st ever BRC membership number. Unaffiliated members will not be given an individual membership number and renewal will be from January 1st through to 31st December each year.

NB. Affiliated member types need to email Carousel secretary@carouselridingclub.co.uk  with Horse’s names so we can issue your Bib Number templates.

*The main reasons for the new system:

1. GDPR – your personal data is taken very seriously, at Carousel RC we ensure all data sent to BRC is encrypted & password protected, this has not in place at all clubs, some still send details by post. This is BRC’s attempt to get parity across all clubs.

2. According to BRC, members have been asking for a rolling membership to get the full value of the fee paid, and this addresses that.

Of the membership fee you pay £24 goes straight to BRC which covers your insurance, BRC magazine sent out, BRC staff & other expenses.

Congratulation to the Carousel 90cm Team who competed at the National Hunter Trials

Lexham Hunter Trial is going ahead !!!!!!!

Results for our 90cm team at the championships over the weekend, they
came 18th out of 27 teams.

Ginny was 6th in her section, Charlotte was 10th in hers and Dido was
20th in hers. Claire was eliminated in SJ don’t know why atm, but would
have been the discard score for team placings.

Carousel Team does it again:

Very well done to our dressage team on Sunday 11th. July 2921 coming 3rd of 6 teams in the senior open at the Blackwater Area 14 Dressage
I think only 1 team qualifies for Lincoln but I believe that Paula Bushell has
also qualified as an individual by coming 2nd in Novice 28. We wish her well.

It gives us great pleasure to announce the Carousel Dressage Team achieved a 3rd. Place at the recent Houghton Horse Trials event. This was up against 10 teams. Well done guys. The Team consisted of Paula Bushell, Jessie Edmunds, Martin Haggith and Julie Colley.
